File Your Taxes for Free at One of Our Sites
In 2011 nearly 1/2 of our tax clients fell below the 100% Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
In 2011 we prepared and submitted tax returns for nearly 600 households with a total refund amount of $791,662 (an average of $1,351 per client). Of that total, $295,959 were Earned Income Tax Credit returns. These returns were extremely helpful for the extremely low income clients that we serve.
In 2012 we plan to further help clients learn how to retain more of their annual tax refunds through financial education programs. We are expanding efforts to incorporate financial education and asset building programs at all sites.
How to get your taxes done
We offer tax preparation services year-round at our main office, including returns from previous years.
During the tax seasons, we operate tax sites across Pierce County (Lakewood FISH Food Bank, Key Peninsula FISH Food Bank, Tacoma/Hilltop, SE 85th/Tacoma, Graham). We e-file your taxes instantly, and can get your refund directly deposited into your bank. Save your money - there's no need to pay for a service that you can get for free. Call to make an appointment.
Who is eligible
Pierce County residents should call to see whether their tax situation qualifies for free services. We cannot serve you if you received any capital gains or losses in the sale of stock, or if your self-employment expenses are greater than $5,000. If you are unsure whether you are eligible, please call.
